I am back to blogging. I was not in Chennai for the past 6 months. I was in Mysore undergoing the training with Infosys. Since it is over and now that I got posting in Chennai itself, I have ample amount of time to post and I have few collection of posts related to cartoons to post. Hi all this is Hariharan, Vinod’s friend publishing this post, Asterix and Obelix is funniest cartoon strips ever made, Unlike A.V i wont go through the whole strip in one post as i feel that it would be a insult to the artists genius, thus it will take 3 or 4 posts but believe me my friend it is worth the effort. The comic Asterix and Obelix was written by Albert Uderzo and Illustrated by Rene Goscinny, The series is based

on a Gaulish village which holds out against its Roman invaders with the help of the village Druid Getafix’s magical potion. The series mainly concentrates on two main characters of the village that is Asterix and Obelix. the two of them are inseparable friends, Obelix is very powerful and the secret of his strength is that when he was a child he fell into druid Getafix’s cauldron full of potion is imbibed with super strength, however this prevents obelix from taking even a few drops of magic potion like the rest of the village (though he has no need to ) thus obelix ends up various hilarious attempts to taste the potion from druid, though Obelix is large and powerful he acts like a child and he is really a child at heart. His favorite meal is roasted Boars and favorite past time is thrashing the Roman legionaries(to the Romans obvious dismay) in case , The last thing for one to say om meeting Obelix would be the word “FAT” pointed at him. During childhood Obelix was very serious and adult like, so may be it is one of the reasons why he turned to be childlike as he grew old. In Asterix the legionary Obelix ends up being polite to the roman legionaries, except that being polite is synonymous with Good old Punch up . In case u ever get hold of Asterix and Obelix do read it.

Swat Kats remains to be one of the oldest and famous cartoons in the world. The cartoon is about two cats named Jake and Chance who used to fight criminals by working with the enforcers. But they wrecked things while taking down an enemy. This was mainly because of Commander Feral who interfered in their act. So they were dismissed from the job and sent to other work where they created their own jet named Turbokat from old things found in the salvage yard where they were told to work for damaging the Enforcer head quaters and started to fight crimes by disguising themselves as the Swat Kats with the name T-Bone (Chance) and Razor (Jake).

They became hero of Megakat city soon and became the nightmare of all criminals. Feral never liked them because they always saved the city though it was the duty of the Enforcers. “Callie” Briggs is the deputy mayor of the city and is the one who informs about the criminals to the Swat Kats. She plays an important role in the cartoon.

Popeye the Sailor is very old cartoon. Here Popeye is the main character with Bluto being his arch rival in it. They both try to impress Olive Oyl who eventually falls for Popeye in the end as Bluto tries to get her by behaving badly. He all the time forces her to like him. He is stronger than Popeye. But Popeye gets strong only if he takes spinach. It makes him the strongest. Small kids started liking this cartoon and many were inspired to eat spinach after seeing this. I also heard that the spinach sales raised after this cartoon was aired as it inspired many kids. I love this cartoon a lot.

Courage the cowardly dog is one of the funniest cartoons one can ever find. This series revolves around the exploits of Courage, a small, fuchsia dog who is afraid of the most mundane things. Though his name is courage, he has very less courage inside him to fight against the terrors or remain brave when something scary happens. Eustace, Muriel, and Courage are constantly attacked by (or running into) various monsters, aliens, villains, curses, experiments, natural disasters, and other forms of peril. Courage almost every time freaks out and tries to escape from these problems. This is always shown with excellent comedy. The guy hardly likes the dog as it always says that there is some problem but when he goes to check it out he hardly finds any problem that the dog tries to show to him.

All the opening of the show starts with Courage’s past: “Abandoned as a pup, he was found by Muriel, who lives in the middle of Nowhere with her husband Eustace Bagge. But creepy stuff happens in Nowhere; it’s up to Courage to save his new home.”

It also features the spoofing or reference of various classic horror and cult films as the basis for many episodes. This can be noticed in episodes like “The Demon in the Mattress”, “The Precious, Wonderful, Adorable, Loveable Duckling”, “Heads of Beef”, “Klub Katz”, “Journey to the Center of Nowhere”, “The Great Fusilli”, “Robot Randy”, “1000 Years of Courage”, “Invisible Muriel”, “Human Habitrail”, “Courage the Fly”, “Mega Muriel the Magnificent”, “The Transplant”, “McPhearson Phantom” etc.

Dexter’s Laboratory is one of the funniest cartoons one could have ever seen. The main characters of this cartoon are Dexter who is a born genius, loves to invent new things and has a lab built by himself (The lab is unknown to his parents), Dee Dee who is the elder sister of Dexter and is exactly the opposite of Dexter. She loves to enjoy her life, plays a lot and her main pass time is to play with dexter in his lab by breaking his inventions or meddling with dexter when he is in middle of his important work. Man dark is the arch rival of Dexter in his school. These two are born genius and always hate each other. Man Dark had a far more bigger lab compared to Dexter’s lab but it was destroyed by Dee Dee. This happens when Man Dark gets crush on her and asks Dexter to help him. Dexter’s parents never know what Dexter does inside his room. They are like Dee Dee. Each episode is really funny. Only the first three seasons were good. The fourth season was not good compared to the first three.

Tom and Jerry, a story revolving around a cat and a mouse was a successful one and ran for over six decades. It is still being aired in many channels. One can watch it for ages. You will never get fed up watching it and especially the kids will love watching it again and again. Every time Tom (cat) tried to catch Jerry (mouse) and fails but creates destruction. Every plot is amazing and fun filled. The newer episodes though didn’t had that much fun as the old ones had. You can download the Tom and Jerry cartoon through torrent. The characters that come in this series except Tom and Jerry are Spike, a bulldog, and Tyke (Spike’s kid), Butch, a black alley cat who also tries to catch Jerry, Nibbles (little orphaned mouse who was later named Tuffy). These are some recurrent characters.

I used to see this cartoon when Animax was available in my area. For some unknown reason Animax suddenly didn’t come for my area cable. I think the cable operator stopped receiving the signal from Animax or he himself stopped it. I have no idea about that. But when it was there I used to see this cartoon. It is not that good but still it attracted my attention. So thought of mentioning it here. Check out the introduction video. The music is not that good but the stories were a bit better. The episodes were batter than many other stupid cartoons (Few of you will say DBZ as an example but I don’t care about that. I love that cartoon. I don’t care whether you like it or not. My taste is different from yours if you don’t like DBZ. It is just entertainment).

A cartoon under the category of jokes (comedy) is a famous cartoon presented by a very famous director, Steven Spielberg. He is known for Jurassic Park trilogy, E.T. and many other block buster movies. Pinky and the Brain is a story that revolves around two mice and in that one tries to take over the world (Brain) and his friend Pinky is a funny mouse who has no brain. He uses “narf”, “zort”, “poit”, and “troz” frequently. But “narf” is the best one. Both the mice are taken care by a scientist in his lab where they try to plan to take over the world at night when the scientist is not around.

At the end of every episode the famous tag line of the cartoon
Pinky: “Gee Brain, what do you want to do tonight?”
The Brain: “The same thing we do every night, Pinky—Try to take over the world.”
is used.

Brain is a talented mouse and is very intelligent and his main aim is to take over the world. But all his attempts go in vain. Pinky makes the cartoon lively with his comedies and with him stupid questions which he asks Brain often. You will die out of laughter if you see the first 30 or so episodes. I don’t know about other episodes. If you didn’t watch it yet then better watch it as soon as possible.

I used to see this cartoon when I was in school. You can also call it as Batman of the Future. The costume is really awesome but can’t be compared with the old one as the old one is the best and will remain the best and unbeaten as it was the first one to come. The music of Batman Beyond is superb and you will for sure love the back ground score and also the title music. Here Wayne quits the Batman job as he starts getting old, suffers from some heart problem and starts losing his touch with the super hero character and tell in the very first episode that he will never wear that costume again as he was forced to use a pistol to defend himself against a bunch of bad guys. Then comes in Terry, a young guy who helps Wayne in an encounter with the jokers (well actually Wayne didn’t need any help there as he took care of entire jokers gang). Wayne takes Terry inside his house as he was in need of medicine. So there Terry somehow finds that Wayne was Batman and the story continues. I can’t post the entire story here because if I do then there wont be any fun in watching it yourself. So you guys check it yourself. I didn’t like one thing in this cartoon and that is the name of the cartoon “Batman Beyond” was shown in the title song which I didn’t expect to happen. In the original Batman the animated series the name of the cartoon is never shown in the title song and that was really cool. But here they showed the name of the cartoon in the title video itself and that was not suitable for Batman.
